Arvada Economic Development Association (AEDA) hosted its 20th annual Business Appreciation Awards Breakfast on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. The event honored leading Arvada businesses. The “What’s Your Big Idea, Arvada?” event drew an audience of over 200 businesses and community leaders. Three businesses were presented with awards in their respective industries. The honorees were:

• Retailer of the Year: Fuzzy’s Taco Shop located at 5760 Olde Wadsworth Blvd.

• Employer under 50 Employees: Wadsworth Control Systems located at 5541 Marshall St.

• Employer over 50 Employees: Bennett’s Bar-b-que located at 7490 W. 52nd Ave.

AEDA also presented two awards of distinction. The first award was The Manley Gray Distinguished Service Award. This award was named after Manley Gray, a well-respected and dedicated community member, and a beloved AEDA board member. The Manley Gray award is reserved for an individual who has been an outstanding advocate for and with AEDA. This year, AEDA is honoring Alan Parker. The second award is the Lloyd J. King Entrepreneurial Spirit Award, named after the founder of King Soopers, which was started in Olde Town Arvada. This year the award went to Alicia Svaldi and Heidi Hostetter of Faustson Tool. “This event gives AEDA and the City of Arvada the opportunity to educate stakeholders on what is currently happening in the Arvada business community and to honor exceptional Arvada businesses and community members,” said Paul Heller, President, Arvada Economic Development Association.
